October 2011 I OpenTable Diners Reveal the Top 50 Wine Lists in the U.S.

October 2011 — As vineyards around the country harvest the grapes that will become tomorrow's wines, OpenTable, Inc. (NASDAQ: OPEN; www.opentable.com), a leading provider of free, real-time online restaurant reservations for diners and reservation and guest management solutions for restaurants, is pleased to announce the Diners' Choice Awards for the top 50 restaurants with the most notable wine lists in the United States. The list of winners is derived from more than 10 million reviews submitted by OpenTable diners for more than 12,000 restaurants in all 50 states and the District of Columbia.

This geographically diverse list of winners, which includes Aureole in Las Vegas, Frasca Food and Wine in Boulder and Veritas in New York, highlights 50 restaurants in 21 different states. California, arguably home to the nation's best wine producers, boasts an impressive 11 award-winning restaurants. New York, Maryland and Virginia establishments took four spots apiece, while North Carolina and Washington boasted three each. Colorado, Delaware, Illinois, Michigan and Nevada are home to two honorees each.

Vinology Wine Bar & Restaurant, one of the two restaurants in Michigan to receive the accreditation took great honor in the announcement.  “We are very pleased by this acknowledgment from OpenTable diners,” said Joey Xuereb at Vinology Wine Bar & Restaurant. “We are proud to know that these diners thoroughly enjoyed their overall experience at Vinology and gave us such high marks.  We also want to congratulate the only other restaurants in Michigan which was also a part of the list, Reserve in Grand Rapids.  We hope to inspire even more enthusiasm with our new wine list launching in November”.

“The sommeliers at the winning restaurants put as much passion into carefully curating their wine lists as chefs put into their menus, ”says Caroline Potter, OpenTable's Chief Dining Officer.“ Similarly, creating a wine list isn't a one-time venture for these professionals; they constantly adjust their selections to reflect what is happening in vineyards and wineries each year -- as well as in their own kitchens each season. The honorees on this list understand that restaurants are where diners discover new wines and they continue to honor this by pouring the finest wines at the right time.”

"There are so many factors that influence the creation of a wine list that wows diners, from traditions and trends to economics and Mother Nature,” said Caroline Potter, OpenTable Chief Dining Officer.  “We're so proud to be able to honor the winners and their commitment to building wine lists that excite and educate diners seeking the ultimate compliment to their meal."

Based on feedback collected from OpenTable diners between October 2010 and September 2011, the 50 award-winning restaurants received the highest scores.  For more information about all of the restaurants on this list, please visit http://www.opentable.com/wine.
